Aside from unwanted pregnancies, spaying and neutering brings a number of behavioral and health benefits to the table. For example, spaying female cats will stop them from crying, trying to get outside, and acting out when they are in heat. Neutering male dogs and cats helps prevent behavior such as aggression, humping, the desire to get outside and more. In terms of health, spaying female dogs and cats before their first heat will eliminate uterine cancer/infections completely, and greatly decrease the chances of breast cancer development. In male dogs and cats, neutering will decrease the risk of perianal tumors and prevent testicular cancer entirely.
